Brothers' Cantata by JR André / E Mahieux
Reference BVL 82
For three-part mixed choir, tenor, flute, oboe, cello and organ; 44 pages + PS
In his booklet, the author of the text recalls with much poetry the history of the teaching congregation by placing it in the context of the time. The friendship between Jean-Marie de Lamennais and Gabriel Deshayes, parish priest of Auray and "refounder" of the sanctuary of Sainte-Anne-d'Auray, also reminds us of the links between the Psallette of Malestroit, creator of the work, and the pilgrimage to Auray.
With great skill, the composer signs pages adapted to a children's choir accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble supported by the organ. The possibility of adding a college choir made it possible to gather more than sixty young singers from the Mennaisian network for the work's premiere in May 2020.
