In memory of Geoffrey Marshall
Born in Solihull, Warwickshire, Geoffrey Marshall studied organ with Roy Massey (Hereford Cathedral) and Conrad Eden (Durham Cathedral). He then went on to study music at Durham University, after graduating from the Royal College of Organist in London.
He came to live in Rennes in 1972 and has often collaborated with French musicians to play chamber music, notably at the Notre-Dame du Rosaire Festival in Guernsey.
Accompanist at the Conservatoire de Saint-Malo, lecturer at the University of Rennes, he was titular of the great organ of the cathedral of Saint-Pierre in Rennes since 1978. He died in Rennes in 2015.
