ANIMA CHRISTI for Soprano solo and choir
Reference BVL 72
Soul of Christ (original Latin title Anima Christi) is a Christian prayer addressed to Jesus Christ. Composed in the fourteenth century or earlier, it seeks to obtain an intense mystical union with the person of Christ and is thus part of the prayers of thanksgiving following the reception of the Eucharistic body of Christ (the "communion").
ANIMA CHRISTI is part of the collection of motets composed by Jean René André (titular organist of the cathedral of Rennes) for the students of the choral school of Saint Vincent-Providence of Rennes
A two-page piece for solo soprano and mixed choir, with the organ doubling the choir.
