The Flight of D de Williencourt for cello and piano
Reference EFA 113
Flight opus 30 was written during 2016 with a double purpose: to create a concert piece for cello and piano and to propose to young musicians to play it in a competition.
At the request of the Festival du Vexin and its artistic director Dimitris Saroglou, I therefore premiered this piece on June 25, 2016 with the dedicatee on piano.
At the request of Raphaël Pidoux for "Violoncellenseine", I propose this piece to the 2016 Young Cellists competition.
It is a tribute to Claude Debussy in which I tried to reproduce, with my musical language, the colors and the timbres of the countryside dear to Claude de France.
The Flight could concern the story of a small bird incubated in its nest until the day of its first flight, day of a new birth, beginning of its life as a bird. It also concerns the successive departure of my 3 children who chose to leave the family cocoon to fly on their own. It is the same for these young cellists in search of recognition and who are preparing their flight towards professional life.
