Since 1995, he has been commissioned by a wide variety of organizations such as the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonic and film scores.

 The Oboe Sonata
Originally conceived as a concerto for soprano saxophone, this sonata was commissioned by Mark Hobson, with funding from the New Zealand Arts Council. Ritchie transcribed it in 2002 for oboe and piano, but had to wait until 2010 to perform it for the first time in Paris, during the oboe festival. This sonata is characterized by a continuous movement, divided into 3 main sections: Allegro vivace, Adagio and Maestoso. It was the subject of a first recording.
